Solace

Solace is a collection of mixed-media abstract works created through an intuitive process of layering paint and texture.

The collection grew from the same fascination with weathering and decay that runs through my photography and digital art. Here, I explore that aesthetic physically, applying and reworking materials to create surfaces that appear worn, excavated and altered by time.

Working intuitively, I build, obscure and scrape back layers of paint, allowing the behaviour of the materials to guide each composition rather than beginning with a fixed outcome.

The title Solace reflects the freedom and refuge I find in that process.
